Win Authentic Design

So what do you do when you see replica design ruining a masterpiece? Take a photo, send it to us and you could win yourself a great prize. Our Beauty Ruined Competition encourages you to spot badly replicated design, badly specified replicas and any other travesty that shames the industry, then send it to us.

Your reward? Winners will pick up great pieces of original design from Corporate Culture, Euroluce, Kezu, Living Edge and Stylecraft.

Send your pictures to beautyruined@authenticdesign.com.au

The sincerest form of flattery?

Here is an entry for Beauty Ruined from our friends at The Wall Sticker Company.  They collaborated with Ink & Spindle to create this gorgeous wall art only to find it 'replicated' and for sale on Etsy.  This image is courtesy of Apartment Therapy.

Bad Eggs

An entry from Michelle in Canberra:

Hi there, I thought I would send you a couple of images taken earlier today of the inferior “Egg Chair” at a high profile hotel here in Canberra. The puckering on the upholstery is a dead giveaway as is the lack of stability when you touch the back of the chair. It is always such a shame to visit a beautifully designed building to be disappointed by the lack of respect for design integrity when it comes to the furniture selection. Designcraft sells Egg chairs (the real Fritz Hansen ones) here in Canberra & seeing this continually breaks our hearts, especially when we visit a local design firm to see yet another cheap Egg chair rip off in their foyer!!!!!!!! Cheers, Michelle

Real fakes

So, another entry in the Beauty Ruined competition. From Ben in Sydney. He says, 'does taking fakes and tagging them fake make them original?'. Your thoughts?

Fake iphones

First competition entry is from Ian in Sydney. He says, 'don't you love it when people take a world changing design and try to improve it'. Flip phone or square, the choice is yours, both of course with fake Apple logos.
